Florida Panther Protection Program

Program Summary

A collaborative effort between leading conservation organizations and Eastern Collier landowners to better protect and manage the Florida Panther in Southwest Florida and assist recovery of this endangered species.

Memorandum of Understanding

In 2008, the founding landowner and conservation organization participants in the FPPP signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU), agreeing to work together to promote the conservation of the Florida panther. The overarching goal of the MOU is to promote conservation, management and recovery of the Florida panther, and the participants have since agreed to work toward the preservation of other at-risk species. Through the MOU, its foundational document, the FPPP aims to protect valuable habitat while preserving agricultural lands and identifying appropriate areas for development in eastern Collier County.
